Join Our Team
Youth 19 is led by young people, for young people, and there are a number of opportunities for you to get involved no matter how much time or experience you have.
You could join the Marketing and Events Team and bring your creativity to projects that will make a real difference to young people like you; or get involved in the Youth Council; or find out more about issues that are important to young people. These are just a few examples of the opportunities on offer.
Youth Art Exhibition
During Youth 19, there will be a dedicated youth art gallery in the Garden of Reflection to celebrate the creativity and achievements of young people here.
We are inviting schools, community and voluntary sector, arts organisations or individuals who would like to host an art exhibition for 2 weeks during 2019 to complete the expression of interest form (see below) by Monday 15th October 2018.
We are looking for 20 “Disruptors” who can make change happen by working with us to solve a local problem facing young people, starting in October 2018. You must be under 25 years old to take part.
In return, we will support you by:
- Developing your critical analysis skills
- Giving you free training in Design Thinking
- Spending up to £10k on your solution.
or call Hollie Carroll on 028 71 308 466 .
Youth Street Art
The PEACE IV Youth Street Art project aims to support young people to engage in active citizenship projects via street art.
Project proposals are invited from young people, artists, arts organisations working together and others to deliver a structured programme where, over 6 months of active work, young people will discover and explore street art mediums to be used in practice to express and share social messages.
The Youth 19 Golden Events Fund is a one-off opportunity to apply for financial support from Derry City and Strabane District Council to run an event that will benefit 12-24 year olds during 2019.
Grants are available from £1,000 to £8,000, and applicants will be asked to involve young people aged 12-24 in the design, preparation / planning or delivery of the event. 12-24 year olds should also be the main beneficiary of the planned activities.
Applications will open on Monday 29th October 2018.

The Youth Zone will give young people aged 12-24 the opportunity to take the lead in consulting with their peers, research existing shared space and youth zone models and the chance to work with a consultant who will develop the feasibility study and business case.
